Easy Camping Meals

Some camping meal ideas for your next vacation:

Reuben Sandwich

On Sunday, March 29th, the clock may be one hour forward. The beginning of daylight saving time. Then the dull winter is over. Although that boring is bad.

For our campers, the winter is no time to sit quietly waiting for the summer.

After our last weekend caravan is cleaned in September and taken away with a bit of nostalgia for the winter. There they must wait patiently for the friendly gentleman from the trailer dealership takes out her again to give her a complete check-up and they know “Spring is coming!”

For us, it is usually the same routine in the winter. In October, the bulbs in the ground. In November, unfortunately, there is this year very turbulent, leading up to Sinterklaas and in December Christmas. But if the latter is eaten donuts and champagne bottles lying in the container, it starts to itch.

While rain and storm control the winter, you can dream away with the most holiday brochures.

Mailed or taken from the Holiday.
In February it gets busier on the Internet and on various forums to exchange all kinds of weather data. Personally, we like to ride on a gloomy Saturday or Sunday in February to the mega large camping Obelink in Winterswijk.

To shop and browse for cool new things. And also to imagine what all visitors there soon will look like in their summer camp clothing.

And before you know it and the beginning of April is Easter weekend already at the door.

The recipe is a nice warm winter sandwich with sauerkraut and comes from America. Excellent for winter campers among us, but also at home a treat.

Reuben Sandwich for four people

Ingredients

  • Eight slices of brown bread
  • One bottle-Thousand Island Dressing
  • a knob of butter
  • Eight large slices young cheese
  • 1-ounce roast beef
  • 1 ounce salted meat
  • which drained sauerkraut

Preparation

Lubricate all eight slices of bread on one side with the dressing. Lay 4 slices of bread a slice folded cheese. Arrange the roast beef and salted meat on bread with cheese.

Throw in the drained sauerkraut and finally the cheese. Explain that sometimes the bread with the buttered side down. So you get a kind of sandwich.

Butter the top of the sandwich and put it on a hot griddle or frying pan. Let brown bread in 4 minutes. Now, put the other side with butter and turn the sandwich over. Now browning for another 4 minutes and the warm winter sandwich is ready to be eaten.

You can make the dressing, of course, himself.

  • One pickle, finely chopped
  • ½ red pepper, finely chopped
  • a quarter piece of onion, grated
  • Two tablespoons mayonnaise
  • Two tablespoons crème fra? Che
  • Two tablespoons tomato ketchup
  • salt and pepper
  • ½ teaspoon mild paprika

Mix all ingredients and put the dressing cool 20 minutes away.

Portuguese stew

Many elderly people can currently afford a luxury caravan, by inheritance or profits from the sale of their home. The old of today are mobile and enterprising.

The electric bikes on the back sometimes months traveling through Europe. With all the onboard comfort, good beds, space for humans and animals, while traveling and no annoying bungle the caravan behind the car. After a few conversations with RV owners would almost doubt the comforts of your home.

There are also campers who choose to fly holiday combined with staying in the major mobile homes or caravan. Fast on the destination and so do the benefits and not the costs of a private home.

Although the sale of caravans over the past five years has decreased by 43.8%, Netherlands state with 463,000 registered caravans still unchallenged as one home country on track. The camping life is such serious trouble. Compared to 2011, the number of camping holidays by 6%.

It is now considered quite an image campaign by caravan manufacturers, campsite owners and travel in general. That was clearly seen at the Fair last January. All forms of tourism under one roof. It was old-fashioned cozy culminating in ‘Camp by Night’ with cricket sounds and mood lighting. A very successful event.

Put to think about all these choices. I chose the next fish dish. It is to cook everywhere. Inside and outside. If you have a pan where a lid fits you’ve in no time a delicious Southern European fish dish on the table.

Now is the cup of water and let you simmer the dish for 20 minutes gently with the lid on the pan. Then add the cream cheese, to give it some moisture binding.

Stir well and put the pieces of fish on top. You should no longer stir. Spoon or what ever sauce over the fish pieces, so that it will cook evenly. After 10 minutes the fish dish cooked and sprinkle some chopped coriander and parsley. Spoon into bowls and spoon like a fish soup with bread inside.
